bio

Born in a middle-class home in Peru, Javier witnessed as a child the struggles of his family to succeed in an adverse environment, with low employment rates, hyperinflation, and terrorism. However, his determination to succeed in life converted him into an entrepreneur at an early age, which enabled him to support his living and afford a private college education. By the time he graduated from college, he had become a skilled executive due to his involvement in different sectors (beverages, agro-industry, and services). He married shortly after graduating college, and his life was heading for a promising personal development. Unfortunately, his wife got diagnosed with cancer just six months after their wedding, and this episode forever changed their perspectives of what was important in life. After a year of cancer treatment, they decided to move to a different country to start a brand-new life, re-focusing their priorities. They sold everything that they had and risked it all for this change. Even though they made new friends and started new ventures, the cancer returned, and his wife passed away a year and a half after they initially arrived. By that time, he became a widower, was flat-broke, and left with a 2-month-old baby boy. However, believing in his skills, potential, and accepting his circumstances, he managed to move on developing a successful metals & electronics recycling business with his family for the next 15 years. He still co-owns and directs this business to this day.

Later on in life, he realized that he had the aptitude and desire to help others improve their performances and wellness, and he developed a new passion at that point in his life. He decided then to delegate the management of his company to a close friend and moved to the USA to follow a master’s program in sports psychology. By doing so, he learned tools that, in combination with his life experiences, made him able to help others overcome mental blocks or adverse situations and realize the critical aspects of life to increase performance and well-being. He founded Potential & Performance, LLC, to provide mental performance coaching services from Miami, USA.
